The night wasn't so good. Or rather: I was sleeping quite well, until I realised there was a mosquito around. When this happens during the night, there's really not much I can do other than continuously slap myself in the face, hoping to have struck it; otherwise, the sanest solution would be to just try and sleep the rest in the living room. It was highly frustrating, much more so as I knew we'd be starting at 6AM, with barely any time for the usual meditation and yoga routine (which hasn't happened since Sunday, I suppose).
Of course, I woke up quite groggy, and the first morning moments were difficult. We had the morning walk, but there was barely anything I could notice – I was elsewhere. We proceeded to weed out the lavender field; although the harvest moment has passed, there is still some tending to be made, otherwise the weeds will definitely take over. We did a half hour break; I read, and took a nap in the hammock.
Afterwards, we had a much tougher task. The house we're staying in has a structural problem: it is something quite complicated to explain, but it has to do with the drainage of the soils. Slovenia has had very intense rains during the month of May, and it was a little disastrous. We had to do some shoveling of the terrain around, to guarantee it would be safe for an intervention in the near future. This was supposed to take much longer, but we handled it quite quickly; and it was physically demanding, which was great to spark some energy in the body.
As we worked all in the morning – from 6AM to 12:30PM – there was no need to do anything in the afternoon; but at some point we received a visit from a representative of Movit, the National Agency for Volunteering in Slovenia (this might not be the exact name); apparently, they got some wrong information about our conditions in the farm, and had to check presentially whether it was true or not. It was quite funny. And of course, all is well.
In any case, I didn't do anything overly productive during the afternoon: did some studying on some strength training, which I should start soon; and practiced the Slovene as well. I might try to code a little bit – I'm getting set back on ROC again!
And tomorrow...well. We start at 5:30AM.
