1. download the software from https://apps.ankiweb.net/ — Windows, Mac OS and Linux versions are free, but there is also a (very much worth paying for) iOS version, and a free counterpart for Android.
2. (optionally) create a (free!) account at https://ankiweb.net/. This is not strictly necessary. It allows for syncronization between devices, and you can also do some basic reviews of cards on mobile using the platform.
3. you can retrieve shared (public) decks from the application, manually import a .apkg
file (ctrl + shift + I
should trigger this!), or create your own.
Anki's documentation is great, but it might be overkill if you are just getting through a predefined set of cards. Just please be aware that Anki is a very powerful tool and it can yield great results if handled intentionally!
