Very often it is said that if you work at something you like, you will never work a day in your life.
I feel that is generally accurate, but it is definitely not the whole picture.
In my experience, spending ~8h a day at the computer for work made the pursuit of my own tech interests difficult to achieve. It would just be too many hours.
It was my own boss who pointed this out to me, too; and to him I owe the realization. I (think I) really like computers, programming and technology; but burnouts are a real thing, too.
So I suppose I am a bit more keen on what sort of projects I would like to work with.
