Kelela has been on my radar for many years; I was let on what was, by then, somewhat of a secret, by someone who I very much admire. The year must have been between 2015 and 2017 — between the Hallucinations EP and the first record Take Me Apart. Of course, it was not a very well-kept secret: Kelela was already signed to Warp Records.

I recall an interesting, sensual foray into electronics and voice, somewhat akin to the terrains FKA Twigs will also explore. Raven was only released in 2023, but the confirmation of Kelela's talent had happened in the meantime, in the marvellous Aquaphoria, a series of remixes and appropriations of a great bunch moments from other music.
