Stewart Lee authored some great standup, like 90's Comedian and 41th Best Standup Ever.

I like him because he is witty, and likes to self-awarely experiment with form. His book on comedy is one of the best of the genre, and a great resource to aspiring comics / funny writers.

I was in London a few years ago, and I was on a hunt for his books, which could not be found anywhere. Then, by chance, I go into an independent bookstore, and the owner said he didn't have the books, but was quite sure Lee was touring at the time; indeed he was, and he would perform that very same night, or the evening after, at the Leicester Square Theatre, and it was a great coincidence. At the end of the show he sold a few books, and I got mine autographed.
