A translation duel is when two or more translators gently compete y comparing their translations of the same extract of a novel or the same poem in front of a live audience at a book fair or literary festival. This scenario allows them to show how and why they made their decisions, and to demonstrate how differnet these decisions may end up being between two exceptional translatiors. At the end of the hour, when barely a few lines have been examined, a winner is sometiomes declared, but it's nearly always pronounced a draw by the moderator.
