This is my most important bicycle, for reasons aplenty. It has been in my life since the Summer of 2023; I found it on Facebook Marketplace. The seller and I had agreed on 40 euros, with the exchange happening on the train platform of Celje, as I hopped out and back in the moving train. I was coming back from Ljubljana, shortly after a very pleasant week in Bela Krajina region. The seller put a 10€ discount on top, as the seat was not in a very good condition, and let me know of a previous crash, which could explain the slightly bent fork — were the fork not bent forward.
I did many kilometers in Slovenia, going back and forth the hour-long commute between the farm in Jurovski Dol and the nearest city of Maribor; our first big travel took place between the very same farm and my home in Portugal, with plenty of connecting trains and a mediterranean ferry boat.
During the most recent bikepacking trip, I decided I'd dedicate some written space to my own bicycle. I rode the same (stock?) components for more than two years, in all weathers, with minimal maintenance; but as I realize fixing my bicycles is not so completely out of reach, I plan on making it a little more comfortable, and reliable.
It has served me so well, and given me so much joy and independence; I'd be a fool not to.
The frame is a Scott San Diego, apparently from 1993.
