A non-exhaustive list of things I use and would recommend to others:
Technology
- Thinkpad x260: my daily driver. This is a model from late 2016 – it's almost 10 years old! – and I got it refurbished (most likely from Denmark, given the keyboard symbols) mid-2021. I might have to replace it soon, as the matte 12" screen is starting to stress my eyesight...but boy, am I happy with it! In general, I assume Thinkpads are good deals, especially in the second-hand market.
- Kobo Glo HD and Koreader: this Kobo is my second e-reader, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's snappy, light, battery lasts for days, and has a backlight (which, unfortunately, doesn't had red-tint – but for that, I wear red glasses!). The Kobo OS is very open and not hostile to users (unlike the abhorrent Kindle...). Nevertheless, I would recommend installing Koreader: it's just better!
GooglePixel 8 Pro with GrapheneOS: I suppose I would rather not have a smartphone, but it is just...convenient.- Corne v2: I wanted a mechanical keyboard for the sake of preventing wrist pain and getting a more tailored interface to my computer. I settled for the Corne because it is a split keyboard, and somebody was selling one used. I really enjoy it, and especially since it is fully wired – I've been using it with the computer and phone (through usb-c).
On my computer
- NixOS: yep! After a few years of Arch/Manjaro, I changed to NixOS as a consequence of my work, and am really satisfied with it. Don't see myself going back in the foreseeable future.
- Tiddlywiki: the lovely software that powers this very website.
- Anki: wonderful software.
