Due to poor planning skills, I had very little opportunity to think ahead, build expectations, devise a sort of plan for the weekend; so I was taking everything as it came. I communicated over the IRC channel for last-minute details; there was always someone available to timely reply.
At the Mozilla headquarters, some twenty people gathered — self-defined not only by name and preferred pronouns, but domain too! Some were coming from the beyond tellerrand larger event on design, creativity, etc. and, of course, there were recurring members of the camp — so there were hints some contextual rapport.
But never did one feel excluded. We started the session by showcasing personal websites — very often a glimpse into what could be described as digital self-expression — and I did recognize a few from previous explorations. We then suggested a few topics for inpromptu panels and sessions to be had throughout the day. I'd rather fit among existing proposals rather than add my own — especially being new — but this was not usual policy: newcomers were encouraged to take initiative.

Interesting ideas sprung up. A participant had recently lost an internet friend — in such situations, how does one pay its respects — and how should (if willing) their memory be preserved? On another topic: how does one get hold of privacy and safety in the IndieWeb (and internet at large), especially given that some of this content is particularly personal? Sessions were held very informally, with live-stream and a freely-accessible document that everyone could edit at any time. These were later organised into the event schedule.
The pace was a bit hectic: at the end of each event, there was a bit of shuffling around, a mass reorganization — and then we'd go at a completely different topic. Interesting stuff, and great fodder for curious, tinkerer people. And we would only on the day after — with a small presentation on progress and achievements at the end of it all.
